Mama Says Wash!™ was started in November 2002 by mere accident! I first started making soap in my kitchen for Christmas gifts for family and friends in October 2002. I wanted to create a gift that was handmade, unique and useful; one that I could personalize for each person on my list. Before I knew it, my closet was overflowing with hundreds of bars of soap, my husband was giving me "the look" and the "addiction" had begun. Friends and family raved about my soaps and asked if I they could buy them from me. I knew I had better start selling if I was going to be able to support my new "habit." It was then that my entrepreneurial instinct surfaced and I realized "Hey, I could make a business out of this!" And thus, Mama Says Wash!™ was born.

The great thing about soap is that it's such a useful item ... something everybody needs and uses. Whether you're buying for yourself or for others, this isn't just some item that's going to sit on the shelf and collect dust. Mama Says Wash!™ produces a wide variety of soaps, including kitchen soaps, luxurious bath bars, decorative soaps, unscented soaps, even soap for your dog! Private label and custom soaps are our specialty. There are endless ways to creatively combine molds, colors, additives and scents to make just the perfect gift. Custom orders are always welcome, whether it's a single soap, or several hundred. We've made soaps for birthday party favors, bridal luncheons, rehearsal dinners, baby showers and lots of other special occasions. Mama Says Wash!™ is proud to announce that as of May 2004 we are out of the kitchen and into the workshop! Yes, my husband made me promise that if we bought a bigger home with space for a workshop, that I would keep my soapmaking paraphernalia out of the kitchen! Of course, I readily agreed and the summer of 2004 will be spent outfitting the new Mama Says Wash!™ office and workshop so that we may continue to expand and better serve our rapidly growing customer base.

Mama Says Wash!™ is based in Austin, Texas where I reside with my husband and two young daughters. Prior to motherhood, I spent 8 years in the semiconductor industry. Then, after four and a half years at home with my children, I was longing for an outlet and something to exercise my brain. Trading high tech corporate life for diaper duty had been a major adjustment!. Mama Says Wash!™ not only saved my sanity, but it allows me to pursue something I love while being at home with my children. In addition, running the business feeds my need for intellectual stimulation, something too easily lost amongst the piles of dirty diapers and half-eaten peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
