What makes Mama Says Wash!™ soap so much better than the soap you buy at the store?

The answer is simple……..it's what's NOT in our soap.

Did you know that most store bought soaps aren't really soap at all? Most commercially-available soaps are actually detergents….. chemically manufactured with ingredients whose names you can't spell or pronounce. Next time you're in the store, pick up a bar of "soap" and see that it's not really soap at all. Does the label/box say "soap?" Probably not, it probably says something like bath bar or deodorant bar or beauty bar. And the ingredient list probably contains things like triethanolamine (a detergent found in a well-known transparent facial bar), sodium laureth sulfate (a surfactant to improve foaminess, found in a popular line of scented clear soaps ) and imidazolidinyl urea (a formaldehyde-releasing preservative found in a major brand of baby bath). How great does that sound for your skin?

Our handcrafted soaps produce a luxurious lather and leave your skin feeling soft and clean, without all those harsh chemicals. How do we do it? Simple… we start with 100% all natural soap derived from vegetable oils such as coconut oil, palm oil, castor oil and safflower oil. There are no detergents, surfactants, or sulfates; no hardeners or fillers, and no added alcohol or sugar solutions. The only exception is the clear soap used for embedding objects - this soap contains a very small amount of surfactant to improve the clarity of the soap. Our soap is non-comedogenic and great for your face as well as your body.

All our soaps contain high percentages of glycerin, a natural moisturizer, and thus are very good for all skin types, even sensitive skin. (Most commercial "soap" manufacturers actually remove the glycerin from their products to sell to producers of lotions and creams, which are a higher profit industry.) In addition, many of our soaps may have additional premium ingredients added to further enhance their properties:

• Grade A Extra Virgin Olive Oil for additional moisturizing
• Liquid Vitamin D Goat's Milk for skin softening properties
• Oatmeal for its moisturizing and exfoliating qualities
• Pure Aloe Vera for its soothing and healing properties
• All Natural Shea Butter, a well-known moisturizer and skin softener
• Vitamin E Oil, for moisturizing
